VISIT EXHIBITION OF THE PAINTER
JOSE TOLEDO
UAE based Jose Toledo born in Mexico, has trained to be a civil engineer. He then shifted gears, moved to New Delhi and enrolled in a college of art to follow his dreams of becoming a painter.
“I share both the role of the engineer and the artist in my soul “ he says “so, depending on the time, my mood or my energy, either can emerge more prominently than the other. When I finally had the chance to express myself as an artist, it was a revelation.”
Toledo’s paintings, flow from abstract to realistic as effortlessly as he shifts his medium.

VISIT TO
NOURA AL RAMAHI´S STUDIO
Noura is a Lebanese-born Emirati artist whose first experience in artwork started in the early 1990’s while she was a high school student in Dubai. She dabbled in pencil and charcoal drawing as well as silk painting. During her university years in Beirut, she was drawn to the hand crafted clay pottery markets and began painting on clay. Using the same acrylic medium she used on clay, she began in the late 1990’s to produce paintings on paper and canvas.
Her work is abstract expressionist with human figures being a prevailing subject in many of her paintings.
She has produced artworks on metal using mixed media. The metal works are shot with 9mm bullets which Noura shot herself.
She had her first exhibition in January 2016 entitled A Picture and A Thousand Words and was a great success with the majority of artworks sold, raising funds for acharity organization in Abu Dhabi.

When visiting her studio, she will show us the pieces she is currently working on from the series “The Color of Memory,” composed of several paintings and acrylic boxes.
The theme of this series is based on memory and the underlying universality of every human experience. In a conceptual parallelism, she identifies memory with figurative images, and oblivion with abstraction, using classic black and white drawing and masses of colour with sand.
